10 Subscriptions I Cancelled Because of Claude Code

About this video

I cancelled almost every paid tool I used as a content creator and replaced them with Claude Code. In this video I walk through each tool, what Claude Code does instead, and how much I save (roughly $1,000 to $2,000 a year). Quick answer: Claude Code replaced Captions, VEED, Notion, Webflow, Opus Clip, Canva, Frame.io, Buffer and Zapier for me. I say 10 tools in the video but skipped number 5 while recording, so it's 9 (sorry!). CHAPTERS 0:00 The tools I replaced with Claude Code 0:06 1. Captions (short form editing and animations) 0:35 2. VEED (burned-in subtitles in my brand fonts) 0:56 3. Notion (Claude's memory + Google Drive instead) 1:23 4. Webflow (rebuilt my website on GitHub + Vercel) 2:10 6. Opus Clip (finding and cutting the best podcast clips) 2:50 7. Canva (thumbnails and animated carousels with Claude Design) 3:34 8. Frame.io (my own timestamped review page) 4:01 9. Buffer (scheduling natively through my mirrored iPhone) 4:49 10. Zapier (scheduled tasks and automations described in plain English) 5:18 Is Claude Code worth it? These are 10 tools that I replaced with Claude Code and probably saved one or two grands a year. Number one is Captioned. This is a tool that I used when I was uh doing shorts from a podcast because you could pick different styles and um there were a lot of animations on top of it. But now I actually just use Claude and if I want a different style of the video, I will just drop in the link and it's able to add animations, correct the voice, uh add subtitles, everything basically. So So I stopped paying for it.

Number two is VEED, which I used for these cool subtitle. And the reason that I got rid of it is because Claude is able to burn in the subtitles into the video and follow my brand fonts and if I give it a reference, it's able to follow that reference and do it for each video. So no need for it. Number three is Notion. I use Notion as my second brain, as content calendar, for scripts, for notes.

But to be honest, Claude has memory and it's able to remember my style rules, my projects, how I like things done. And for general organization of the business, I just use Google Drive, which I already pay for. So I think Notion is great for teams, but for a solo creator, I didn't feel like I needed it anymore. Number four is Webflow because my website used to be on Webflow with um monthly fee and every little change meant going in and trying to fix it myself. And the process that I went through is I gave it a link to my Webflow website and asked it to read all of the code and all of the design of it.

And then I asked it to replicate it. And it put the code of it on GitHub and it's hosted via Vercel. And the absolutely best thing about it is that making changes on the website is so easy. For example, if I want, let's say, price change, Claude is able to quickly find each place where price was listed and change it in one go. This is one of the best changes that I've made.

Number six is Opus Clip, and I used Opus Clip to cut long episodes into short. And it wasn't bad, but I felt like half of the pics were really random. Now, Claude can read the whole transcript, find the moments that are actually good, and cut them. And [snorts] it's not able to do just that, but it will add my captions, the cover, and it can even upload it onto the Instagram or TikTok or wherever I want it. So, instead of just having 10 clips and then having to edit them in CapCut, I just get the finished clip, which is much better, which saves me so much time.

Number seven is Canva, and this one is going to be controversial. But, every thumbnail that I used to make would take me an hour because initially what I've done is I connected Claude to Canva, and it used that in order to make the designs for me, which did speed things up. But, actually, when you just use Claude or use Claude Design, the results are so much better. And with Claude Design as well, you can actually point at the thing that you want to change, and either change it yourself or ask Claude to change it. And Claude is so good at creating, for example, animated carousels that, yeah, I just didn't feel like there's a use case for it now.

Number eight is frame.io, which is a website that I used to give feedback on the edits, but Claude built me my own little preview page. So, I'm able to watch the video and click stop and put a timestamp and my note. And Claude will read my notes and make the fixes. I um and because I don't have to outsource it to a designer anymore, I don't really need it.

Number nine is Buffer. And I used to pay for Buffer to post on Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn. But the problem with Buffer is that firstly, it's not able to put in a cover page that I want. It can take it from the video as one of the frames, which is really annoying. And also, it was really hard to add music and a lot of the settings that are in the native apps themselves, they're not on Buffer.

And also, I felt like the engagement was lower when I used to schedule things through Buffer. Because So, what I do now is I mirror my phone onto the laptop and I just ask Claude to use that phone in order to schedule things for me. And because it's done in the native platforms, it works really well. And the final one is Zapier. And I had Zapier and used it to connect everything.

The subscription was quite a lot and something was always breaking. Now I just use Claude and it's able to run scheduled tasks. So, every morning I check my inbox, my calendar, and my to-do's and gives me a brief. And what is great about it as well that if I want some automation done, I can just describe it and Claude will do it for me. So, I didn't feel like there's a need for it.

Claude is not perfect at everything and it makes mistakes, but I think the biggest benefit is not having to switch between all of these different apps because I just have one chat window that I interact with and Claude in the background is able to click through those different websites. I hope this video was helpful and I would really ask you to subscribe to this channel for more information about AI tools that can really help and accelerate your business. Until next time.
